Cape Town East is a visitor's paradise where you can expect great experiences, magical moments and a lifetime of memories.
East of the Cape Town City Centre and Cape Town International Airport, visitors can enjoy scenic coastlines, picturesque vineyards and rural getaways 'welcome to Cape Town's most beautiful gem, Cape Town East.
The Hottentots Holland Mountain range dominates the area known as the Helderberg and some unique attractions and activities are on offer. The region includes Khayelitsha, the coastal suburbs of Strand and Gordon's Bay with its long white stretches of beach and the adjacent suburbs of Macassar, Somerset West, Lwandle and Sir Lowry's Pass.
Moving further east and into a more rural setting is the area known as the Oostenberg that includes the suburbs of Brackenfell, Kraaifontein and Kuils River. This is where Cape Town's urban areas meet the rural gateway to the Cape Winelands and the Cape Overberg.
The east metropole region also boasts one of the richest eco-nature offerings with the Kogelberg Biosphere. Drive along Clarence Drive to experience what was referred to by Reader's Digest as one of the world's 10 most scenic drives.
Nature lovers will be awed by the Helderberg Mountain range and the many hiking and walking trails to choose from. You can join our active bird watching club on a walk or pick a spot to lounge away the day with a picnic or braai. Beach activities range from land based fishing to cool surfing spots and sunset boat cruises. If you are feeling less active you can always enjoy a day at the beach soaking up the sun and playing in the waves.
