Cape Town central is one of the top international destinations in the world & is filled with natural beauty & a rich variety of exciting activities.
The Cape Town Central area is situated at the foot of Table Mountain & includes the city beaches along the Atlantic seaboard. The Cape Town CBD (Central Business District) is a relatively small area, which allows for easy exploration on foot. All you need is a good pair of shoes, a map & a general sense of direction. To get to the beaches and surrounding suburbs you will need to use your own transport or public transport.
Cape Town City Centre has the Museum Mile, the Company Gardens, Greenmarket Square, St Georges Mall, the Bo-Kaap and much more. Numerous excellent hotels, loft apartments, trendy restaurants and bars can be found in the heart of the city and along the coast. Take a trip up Table Mountain; visit the V&A Waterfront or make use of world-class conference and hotel facilities. Last, but not least, take the trip to Robben Island, the former home of Nelson Mandela.
Along with the City Centre and Table Bay Harbour, Cape Town Central includes the beachside suburbs of Bakoven, Bantry Bay, Camps Bay, Clifton, Fresnaye, Green Point, Mouille Point, Sea Point, Three Anchor Bay and further along to Llandudno and Hout Bay. It also includes the trendy city suburbs of Higgovale, Gardens, Vredehoek, Oranjezicht and Tamboerskloof. Don't miss out on the culture of Woodstock, Observatory and Zonnebloem too.
The City Central area offers a wide range of attractions and activites and the visitor can experience the Mother City at her best!
For beach lovers a visit to Camps Bay is a must. It's well known for its palm lined white-sand beach and wonderful restaurants. Another favourite is Clifton, consisting of 4 beaches. 1st & 2nd beach are visited by sunbathers & beach sport lovers, 3rd beach is for gay & lesbian beach lovers & 4th beach is a family beach. 4th Beach was recently awarded Blue Flag Status, an annual eco award given to beaches and marinas world-wide.
Mouille Point, boasting the oldest operational lighthouse on the South African coastline, is the start of the seafront promenade which follows a stretch of the Atlantic coast. The promenade is used by walkers and joggers alike and links up with Sea Point, packed with restaurants, shops and high rise apartments.
Green Point is well known as the heart of Cape Town's gay scene. Here visitors will find some of the best gay bars, clubs, cabaret & theatre venues and restaurants.
Don't miss out on the family friendly beaches and activities in Hout Bay and Llandudno and head for urban culture and creativity in Observatory and Woodstock.
Whatever you are looking for, Cape Town has a place for you.
